BEC-UT/COTE Spring Symposium

Professor Ajla Aksamija will be presenting "High-Performance Facades and Impact of Climate Change on Facade Performance" at the Building Enclosure Council (BEC) Utah/AIA Committee on the Environment (COTE) Spring Symposium on May 9, 2025. This 1.5 hr presentation will cover methods for designing sustainable, high-performance facades, and the necessary steps in ensuring that the environmental factors and energy-efficiency strategies are integrated with the design process. The facade is one of the most significant contributors to the energy budget and the comfort parameters of any building. High-performance facades use the least possible amount of energy to maintain a comfortable interior environment, which promotes the health and well-being of building’s occupants. The first part of the presentation will focus on design methods for high-performance facades, including case studies. The second part of the presentation will discuss impacts of climate change on facade performance.

Registration is required for the symposium, and participants will receive 1.5 LU/HSW AIA CEUs for attending this presentation.
