USAID “Innovation in Architecture” International Mentoring Workshop

Professor Ajla Aksamija led a four-day workshop on innovations in architecture, organized by the Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Diaspora Invest project in Bosnia and Herzegovina, from December 9 to 13, 2024. Professor Aksamija first presented a public lecture, “Innovation in Architecture: Design, Methods, and Technologies for Innovative Practice” at the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering, and Geodesy (AGGF) at the University of Banja Luka on December 9. The lecture brought together students, academics, and professionals from the fields of architecture and construction. Then, individual one-on-one mentoring workshops were held with three architectural firms from Bosnia and Herzegovina, selected by the USAID. The companies included a start-up research and design firm, as well as two established architectural companies. The workshops focused on mentoring individual firms on marketing and innovative business opportunities as well as strategies for integrating innovative practices in their work. This USAID’s program aims to strengthen local capacities by transferring knowledge and experience from diaspora experts. This initiative is particularly important for ensuring sustainable development and implementing innovative technologies in local industries, which contributes to long-term progress and enhances the business opportunities.
