New Project Focusing on Revitalization Study of Liberty Park Greenhouse

TP3C is teaming up with the Salt Lake City Corporation and Dr. Michael Mayo, Professor Emeritus at the Department of Marketing & Entrepreneurship, Kent State University to study retrofit design strategies for the Liberty Park Greenhouse. The project is part of the Salt Lake City Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The Liberty Park Greenhouse is an iconic building, located in one of Utah’s oldest and most celebrated urban parks. The building still partially operates as a greenhouse, primarily to provide seasonal flowers and floral displays within the park, but it is not open to the public. Currently, the building requires reimagining and renovations to become once again a landmark building within Liberty Park and Salt Lake City. The research project will investigate retrofit design strategies, and will develop architectural design concepts that would revitalize this building into an urban landmark. The project will include archival research and documentation, community engagement workshops, digital modeling, analysis and development of a building program for spatial organization, as well as development of architectural design concepts for revitalizing the building.
